JIAXIN OU

Jiaxin Ou is a collaborative pianist and music educator currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) degree in Collaborative Piano at the University of North Texas, where she studies with Dr. Steven Harlos and Dr. Elvia Puccinelli. She serves as a teaching assistant on a full scholarship, actively contributing to both the College of Music’s performance and collaboration missions.

Originally from Guangzhou, China, Jiaxin earned her bachelor’s degree in Musicology (Music Education) from the School of Music at South China Normal University in 2019. Motivated by a strong interest in piano performance and collaborative musicianship, she continued her musical training in the United States. From 2019 to 2023, she completed dual master’s degrees in Piano Performance and Vocal Coaching at Oklahoma City University, studying under Dr. Sergio Monteiro. During her time at OCU, she was deeply involved in musical theatre, serving as an assistant music director for multiple productions and gaining extensive experience in rehearsal collaboration, score preparation, and singer coaching.

Jiaxin has received recognition in both national and international competitions. She was awarded first prize at the Eighth Hong Kong International Piano Invitation Competition in 2018, organized by the Asia Musicians Association, and earned second prize at the 2019 Oklahoma Music Teachers Association Collegiate Competition.

As a collaborative pianist, educator, and scholar, Jiaxin is committed to fostering musical excellence through thoughtful collaboration, stylistic awareness, and supportive pedagogy. She continues to perform, teach, and engage in academic work at the University of North Texas.
